Nimble Fingers/Itchy Fingers

<| Previous | Next |>

This wall mounted piece is made from a found, recycled circular wooden frame with 27 pairs of latex rubber cleaning gloves tied to it to make the virtual flowers of a corsage. The naming comes from the brand of glove - "Nimble Fingers".

There is irony in the making of this piece — as dish gloves are supposed to protect your hands from the repetitions of domestic chores, these gloves did not protect my hands — in fact I've developed a latex intolerance, which means I have had a very itchy contact dermatitis on my hands due to the repeated tying and stretching of the gloves over the frame.
